Run for Dad a huge success

click picture for larger view

17 runners, walkers, and supporters showed up yesterday morning in West Windsor for the most attended charity event in history. Our runners took 4 age group awards. Efran Cazalas took 2nd and Daniel Hayward took 3rd in the 20-24 age group. I took first in the 25-29 group and Desiree Lara took 2nd in the 20-24 female group. After the race we presented our check to Glenn Parker from ACS and he spoke a few kind words about our organization. The above picture has everyone standing right before I handed the check to a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society(ACS). I personally want to thank Glenn Parker and Janet Sorge for all the help streamlining our team's registration. I also want to thank all our runners, walkers, and supporters for making this event not only fun but memorable.

It will take me a few days to put the 90+ pictures on the web, so check back for them in a few days. I also will be posting details about our next event in the next week.

Just a few days left

So just a few more days till the biggest event in charity history. If you are going to be running/walking on sunday dont forget that I need your $22 fee and entry form by Friday unless you have made arrangements with me. If you have not started collecting donations dont worry, I won't need them until sunday. I will be contacting everyone on Saturday to get an estimate on the amount of donations we have collected so I may figure out ACS's portion.

If you have not signed up and are still interested, contact me as soon as possible at jointeam (@) formyfather.org . We currently have between 25-30 people signed up for the race, more than I had ever hoped for.

I will have a definite location for the car pool meeting place by friday morning. We probably will meet in the parking lot of the Deptford Mall, which is only a few minutes from the NJ turnpike entrance. Just a reminder the car pool will leave at 7am.

I will be making the shirts late thursday night and you can either pick them up from me after thursday or at the race on Sunday.

Race Packets Available

The race packets for the father's day race have been completed. You should pick them up as soon as possible from the person who recruited you. If you have not started to collect donations , start talking to people now so that when you get your packet you already have some donations. If you don't have a packet yet, just record the name and amount for each donation. You can transfer the information later once you get the packet.

If you do not know who to pick a packet up from please email me at jointeam (at) formyfather.org

Father's Day Run!!!!!!

Sunday, June 17th Father's Day

On Father's Day , the biggest event in our charity's history will take place. The American Cancer Society(ACS) is holding a 5k Father's Day run named Run for Dad at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, Nj. The race starts promptly at 9 am but I am asking all For My Father Team members and supporters to report at 8am for race number pickup and pictures. The cost of the race is $17 per person plus $5 if you do not have a For My Father team shirt. Supporters are asked to pay $5 for a supporters' shirt. Over the weekend I will be putting together information packets that will contain: an Entry form, New Sponsorship Form, Race Details, Directions, and a Donation envelope. You can pick these up from me or from the person who has recruited you for the race. I will need the entry form and fees by June, 15th so that I may get everything in order for the race.

As of right now, there will be between 20-30 team members running/walking the 5k race. We are going to donate 25% of all offline donations to the American Cancer Society. I am asking team members and supporters to bring a picture of a loved one who was taken by cancer or someone who is battling it now. These people are our inspiration for running, we will honor them at the race.

To everyone who has started collecting donations please accept cash or have them make checks out to Andrew Hayward.

During the award ceremony, I will be presenting someone from ACS a blown up check representing our donation to ACS.

These couple of weeks before the race, this website will be slightly updated to better inform our growing public.

Lastly, to those who use myspace, I ask that you add www.myspace.com/formyfather as a friend and from now till Father's Day you make it your number 1 Friend

More information coming soon..............
